Maddy Hicks released “Told You” in November of 2023 with Overall Recordings.

Maddy started writing this song in 2021, and then came back to it the summer of 2023. She finished writing and recording it with Josh Ronen, who then produced it. The song was mixed by Pedro Calloni.

“I started writing this song a few years back when I wound up in a really chaotic situationship. At the time, writing songs like this felt like escapism… it was like, ‘ok this time I’ll tell the story as if I don’t care what happens, as if I’m ready to spill the tea.’ It gave me the power back to spin the narrative, to turn something that hurt me into a song that felt so fun to sing. Now that I’m fully outside of the situation, I live for the drama in this song, and I’m excited to empower anybody who went through something similar.”
