Hall of Shame
“I think that all songs are mirrors. The artist is looking in, the listener is looking back, and we’re all trying to see ourselves in it. When I landed on the concept of this project, I was picturing an abandoned funhouse with those distorted mirrors. You walk past one where you see yourself curled up in the fetal position, empty eyed, and that’s my song Roster. You walk past another where you’re a movie star, radiant and grinning, and that’s my song Told You. There are songs on this project about feeling your worst and being so hard on yourself. There are songs about feeling your best, and passing all the blame onto someone else. At the core of this EP is the desire to be seen and known. So I welcome you into my Hall of Shame. I hope that you see yourself somewhere in it, and we all learn that there was nothing to be ashamed of after all.”
