Daylight

After releasing singles “My Eyes Have Dried” and “Pit Stop,” Nashville artist Maddy Hicks released an EP entitled Daylight on August 13, 2021. The EP, which follows her EP Nightlife released earlier in the summer, features the two leading singles as well as three additional tracks.

Daylight opens with a track that establishes confidence from the beginning. “My Eyes Have Dried” celebrates the final phase of a breakup by cooly declaring the end of all feelings for a past lover. The next track, “Pit Stop” does a 180 and celebrates the beginning of a relationship and the discovery that a new fling could be the final destination. This confidence continues into “Silent Film Star,” which tells the story of a woman rediscovering her voice in a world that just wants her to smile and look pretty. With all of this power and clarity comes a desire to look out for others, which can be seen in “Weigh Me Down,” a track about supporting the people in your life. “The Truth” is the final track of the EP. This honest song reveals that there is power in admitting when everything isn’t okay, and there is power in making a change for the better.

Daylight is a continuation of my previous EP Nightlife. Every insecurity and unhealthy pattern highlighted in Nightlife is dispelled by these new songs. This EP is about authentic confidence.”
